Abstract

The aim of this article is to conduct a literature review to examine how Abrahamic religions reflect topics related to One Health, animal welfare, and ethics in a multidisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and interdisciplinary way, interpreted from the sacred scriptures of Judaism (Old Testament), Christianity (Old and New Testaments), and Islam (Quran). This study found that religious thought indeed influences people's relationships with animals and their uses, from the method of slaughter to the understanding of what constitutes an animal. Furthermore, it illustrates how people addressed their problems in the time and place where they lived, problems that persist today. More research should be conducted to understand these issues and with other religions, promoting an environment of religious tolerance, which reflects the social function of the profession.
