Abstract

The great influence of social media on people's daily lives is undeniable. Its use as a means of communication is growing rapidly in Brazil and around the world; the "network society" is a reality. The adoption of digital platforms as everyday communication tools has transformed interpersonal communication, and Brazil has not been left out of this shift. Driven by technological expansion and evolving behavioral dynamics, this network society landscape is the subject of analysis in this article, specifically within the Brazilian context. Methodologically, the research employed a mixed-methods (quantitative-qualitative) approach, utilizing a deductive method and a literature review of authors such as Manuel Castells and Vicente Fidelis de Avila. The study compares the Brazilian scenario with that of other global powers using concrete data from DataReportal. The results indicate that Brazil follows the trends of major global powers while retaining its own unique characteristics.
